Pallottines South Africa

In many poor countries, the elderly, sick or disabled are often left to their own devices. Our mission is to make God visible through living acts of love!

Our Projects

Good Shepherd soup kitchen service was started in 2006 by Brother Herman Michels SAC. He used his personal funding and the help from his benefactors…

The Society of the Catholic Apostolate (Latin: Societas Apostolatus Catholici, abbreviated S.A.C.), better known as the Pallottines, are a Society of Apostolic Life within the Roman Catholic Church, founded in 1835 by the Roman priest Saint Vincent Pallotti.

Vincent Pallotti

Saint Vincent Pallotti (April 21, 1795 – January 22, 1850) was an Italian ecclesiastic, born in Rome, and a saint. He was the founder of the Society of the Catholic Apostolate later to be known as the “Pious Society of Missions” (the Pallottines).

The Pallottines

Pallottines are part of the Union of Catholic Apostolate and are present in 45 countries on six continents. The Pallottines administer one of the largest churches in the world, the Basilica of Our Lady of Peace of Yamoussoukro in Côte d’Ivoire.

Pallottines in South Africa

The Pallottines Priests and Brothers arrived in South Africa in 1962, some 55 years ago to serve the local Church. Presently they are active in 3 provinces, the Eastern Cape, KwaZulu-Natal and the Western Cape.

Our roles are as diverse as the talents of our confreres. Everyone brings his abilities to bear, which are complemented and completed in the others. We gladly work together with all people. All Christian concerns are significant to us. We try to respond to the concerns and needs of our contemporaries through the inspiration of the Christian faith. We understand our living and working together as brothers, and with others, as a special gift of God representing him in his Trinity. Therefore community has great meaning for us.

We live differently. Rooted in faith, we live in ‘local communities’, free from the common and daily consumer needs and partnership commitments of our society. Our communities are places where a different life becomes possible for us. In this way, we remain on our search for God, who is infinite love, open to new ideas, open for encounters and open for a radical discipleship.

Together with our brothers and sisters in the Pallottine communities, we want to change the world, to make God’s love visible, to strengthen the faith in his love and ignite the joy of a fulfilling life – for all.

We want to engage Christians and others to work together to achieve justice, peace and the care of creation.
